The cover story concerns the recruitment of the New York Zouaves, along with several illustrations throughout. The centerfold is of a spectacular depiction of
“the burning and scuttling of the U. S. ships and the destruction of the government buildings at Norfolk, Virginia.” There are also several engravings of the bombardment of Fort Sumpter and much more.
