    Description

Up for sale is a copy of an ORIGINAL and HISTORIC Civil War Era Newspaper the "New York Tribune" dated Tuesday, February 14, 1865.  Read first hand what was happening in the US about 2 months before the official end of the Civil War (April 9, 1865).
It is a large 4 page (8 pages front and back) newspaper measuring approximately 16" x 21".
The paper covers some important historical news including, General Grants Operations - Further Particulars of the Battle of Hatcher's Run, the capture of the British schooner Fannie McRae, by the US schooner Fox, a description of a new Confederal flag adopted by the Rebel Senate, as well as information on the execution of deserters and an update on the data on the losses in recent battles.  It includes news on the stock exchange, some advertisments, and much, much more!
The paper is in Acceptable condition.  There is wear and browning to the paper and there are several creases where it was folded.  There are many creases and tears along the edges, some that affect the actual articles.  There are a number of tears, stains and creases in the middle of the editorials, as well.  The 150 year old paper also suffers from some foxing, staining and heavy browning.
There is a sticker on the upper left hand corner of the front of the paper that reads "J Henderson 27 Jun65 BROOKVILLE Pa" placed there by a previous owner.
This is an incredible chance to read about our countries history on the original day it was reported!  A great opportunity for any collector or history buff to own a true piece of American history!
